Epic Glass Cleaner!!

This is actually a game changer! When did we stop using mother nature, it was a pretty bad idea! But now we are back on the right track šŸ™‚

Try this one and tell me you want to go back to the toxic stuff!

Glass Cleaner

* 1/2 teaspoon liquid Castile soap

* 1/4 cup white vinegar

* 25 drops of citrus essential oils

* distilled water (as needed)

* 500 ml spray bottle

* Pour the soap, vinegar and essential oils into the spray bottle

* fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water, screw on the pump, and shake heavily

* spray directly on glass windows and mirrors for cleaning.

* I use a microfibre cloth to do a bit of the hard work too.

Dishwasher Tablets – approved!!

Dishwasher tablets have been a sticking point for me. I love the Ecostore ones and the Abode dishwashing powder is next level and so low tox it’s a no-brainer. However, I wanted to make my own and it took me a few goes to get these ones down pat! They work so well so I am happy to endorse them on this website. Please let me know how you go!

Dishwasher Tablets

* 1/4 cupĀ Bi-carb Soda

* 1/4 cupĀ Citric Acid

* 1/4 cup Sea Salt

* 1 tablespoonĀ Cornstarch

* 1/2 tablespoon Pure-Castile Liquid Soap (you could also use On Guard Cleaner Concentrate)

* 20 dropsĀ Eucalyptus Essential Oil

* 15 dropsĀ Lemon Essential Oil

* Silicone ice cube mould (or similar)

* Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.

* Pour in the castile soap and essential oils, and mix. You should have a dry crumbly mixture that holds together when squeezed. Add a little moreĀ castile if needed.

* Pack the natural dishwasher detergent mixture into the mould and leave to dry for 24 hours.

* Once set, remove from the mould and store in an airtight container.

* I used Lemon Myrtle and it was amazing. Get your hands on these oils here.

* Every week, put some apple cider vinegar in the rinse aid compartment. This will help keep your dishwasher clean of grease and grime, and your dishes sparkling!

No Tox Fabric Softener

I hope people aren’t still using the toxic fabric cleaners but I know if you have found yourself in the dilemma where you were trying to find an alternative I would love you to try this one!

You can choose whatever essential oils you like, maybe Lavender for your sheets, or Wild Orange for your towels. It works beautifully and is literally no tox.

Fabric Softener

* 20-30 drops of essential oils of your choice, get them here

* 540g epsom salts

* 95g bicarbonate of soda

* Mix the essential oils into the Epsom salts

* Mix in the bicarbonate of soda.

* Keep in a jar.

* About halfway through a wash (or even from the beginning) add 1/3 cup of your mixture.

Toilet Cleaner – this is a winner!

Some of our most toxic cleaners are saved for the toilet and then we sit with our most vulnerable parts directly on these surfaces. I think this is one of the most important alternative to traditional cleaners so I wasn’t going to leave this one off.

You can be so versatile with this cleaner and store it in your spare glass containers for use over time. I love the different smells you can create and how amazing the toilet shines after using this one. You can get your beautiful doTERRA oils here.

Toilet Cleaner

* 95g bicarbonate of soda

* 10 drops Eucalyptus or tea-tree oil (I actually love Siberian Fir)

* 125mL white vinegar

* 2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide (optional)

* Sprinkle the bicarbonate of soda (+ hydrogen peroxide) around the loo.

* Drop the oil into the toilet bowl water.

* Pour the vinegar over the sprinkled bicarbonate of soda and, as it bubbles up, use your toilet brush to swirl things around and scrub.

* Leave for 20 minutes before flushing

Multi-purpose Spray

Cleaning can be so simple!

What do you use for cleaning?

šŸƒWe have definitely been conditioned to need chemicals for cleaning. Our household has been chemical free for the past 3.5 years and our house is very clean! We have 2 big dogs and our house DOES NOT SMELL like dogs šŸ¶šŸ¶.
šŸƒI have transitioned to essential oils for my cleaning over the past couple of years and I haven’t looked back. I don’t even use vinegar anymore because it’s not needed (and stone bench tops don’t love it).

šŸƒI have been asked to check so many “natural” “organic” “pure” cleaning products in the last few years and most don’t stack up because there is no standard. THERE IS NO STANDARD OR GUIDELINES in Australia to determine whether something is allowed to have Natural, Organic or Pure on the label! This creates much confusion to the masses and I am keen to direct you to some trusted sources. The 2 below are the most easily accessible and when you find one that is good, you stick to it! Until you find out how simple DIY is.

šŸƒ1. Abode: This is a beautiful Australian brand that was created by a couple in Queensland who were sick of the chemicals in their environment so decided to make their own. Then family and friends started to jump on board and then the whole of Australia! This is your lowest tox, pre-prepared cleaning products. They seem to be concerned and conscious about the environment as well so that gets the tick of approval from me too.

šŸƒ2. Ecostore: This brand is the entry level to people transitioning to low tox cleaning products. They are available at Woolworths and is easy to put into your trolley if you are still shopping at the big ones. Be careful with these guys though, DO NOT USE their personal care products like shampoo and conditioner or bubble bath. The cleaning products pass the low tox numbers.

šŸƒ3. DIY is the best: The ingredient list is too long on all those cleaners but to be honest cleaning can be SO simple.

Multi-purpose spray

* 1/4 cup white vinegar (unless a porous benchtop – use 1 tablespoon of Castile soap instead, I personally don’t use vinegar at all)

* fill the rest with distilled water

* 30 drops of essential oil

* On Guard: powerful mould killer

* Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Lemon, Wild Orange, any citrus oils, Lavender, Rosemary… (get your oils here)

Super Easy Facial Toner

I am normally pretty basic when it comes to skincare but I have started to experiment with different DIY recipes along the way. My workplace decided to become a little toxic due to some new furniture and my skin wasn’t happy for a while so I experimented with upping my skincare routine.

I came across this beautiful skin toner recipe and have tweaked it a little. I use 100% pureĀ dōTERRA essential oils. This is the secret ingredient, if it’s not 100% pure then ditch it. Non-pure essential oils use fillers and synthetic ingredients to fill the bottle and it’s not great for you skin. If you would like to get your hands on some beautiful, 100% pure essential oils from a beautifully sustainable and conscious company then click here.

1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil

5 drops Geranium EO

5 drops Frankincense EO

5 drops Cedarwood EO

Fill the bottle with Witch Hazel (reduces inflammation, decreases oil and redness, minimise appearance of pores)

(If you have theĀ dōTERRA Home Essentials Kit you can use Lavender & Frankincense, then when you want to upgrade your oils to next level add Geranium and Cedarwood to your cart)

Combine all ingredients in a 100- 120ml bottle and there you have it.

Nothing else, no nasties, no parabens, no toxic fragrances, just pure beautiful ingredients to put on your skin.

Let us know how you go and share on our social media page, Love.Oil.Collective.

Explanation of the value of Loyalty Rewards Program

Essential Oils

The light of my life and gifts of the earth.

As you are aware my life has taken a turn down the natural, organic route as we have had some trouble starting a family. On my journey over the past 2 years I have started using essential oils, mainly for fragrance initially but as I have delved further into them I have found a whole host of reasons why we need them in our lives. My top 10 reasons I will list below.

  1. To reduce our toxic load
  2. Make the house smell amazing! (We have two beautiful (smelly) puppies)
  3. Natural remedy for every day hay fever, colds, flus and generally feeling louzy.
  4. For concentration with study and work at home.
  5. Making our own cleaning products
  6. Making my own perfumes
  7. For anxiety and to help to calm me down before big meetings
  8. To improve our sleep
  9. To improve mood
  10. To swap out my skin care regime.

And these are only my main ones, there are plenty more reasons to use the oils but these are the ones I do consistently.

The story goes like this….

  • I received some oils from a colleague and she signed me up to a network marketing business but never really supported me in letting me know how to use the oils and why.
  • I started using the lavender to help with some stress and sleep issues and it started to change my life. No more waking at night!!
  • I slowed down the use of the oils because I wasn’t given any training on how to use them so I just started to buy the Lavender and peppermint at retail prices!
  • I was getting more and more into the oils and thinking I would like to start using the oils as a platform to educate people about the low tox life.
  • When I left my stressful workplace the Lavender Peace blend was supporting me through and at the same time I came across PATH TO FREEDOM (synchronicity)
  • It all came at the right time for me and I launched my workshops and continued to learn and teach about the oils.
  • Here I am today with a circle of family and friends that have started loving the oils and using them to replace products in their homes.

What are essential oils and why do we need them in our life you ask?IMG_4199

Essential oils are pure plant extracts made by distilling plants and then separating the oils and water. When I was looking into the quality of said oils I was checking to make sure I would receive the highest quality of plant and oils. There are significant differences between all of the companies that sell the oils and I was a little confused about which ones to choose. For example you can walk into Kmart and Big W and there are essential oils there that you can use but these are not pure essential oils. They are synthetic smells and have the phthalates in them that are the endocrine disruptors. So we need to steer clear of the poor quality ones.

I choose doTERRA oils because they have rigorous third party testing to make sure they are of the highest quality. If there are problems with the batch, the oil is discarded and you might not be able to get that same oil for another year or so. They also guarantee that the plants are not produced with the use of pesticides or herbicides but cannot declare organic as each country has different standards.

doTERRA also grow their plants where they are indigenous to, in other words the best growing conditions of the plant. So we are getting our frankincense from Somalia, Lavender from Bulgaria, Lemons from Sicily, Eucalyptus from Australia etc. This produces the highest quality plants and oils instead of bulk producing them from owned farms in America alone.

The third thing I love about doTERRA is that they are putting money back into the communities that grow the plants. They are paying the farmers directly and making sure the conditions are first world. They have a charity called ‘Healing hands’ and they are building schools in Nepal and Somalia and making sure there is clean fresh water in these places. From what I have seen doTERRA is a very conscious brand and that is what I love about them.IMG_4463

Over the next few weeks I will be putting up recipes that we use for our home to replace all the chemicals and make sure we are living a very low tox life. If you want to find out more about the oils and how you can get your hands on them please feel free to contact me. I would love to organise a workshop for you to show you how to reduce the toxic load in your homes.
